09 F150 ecm whereabouts

    Looking for my keyless entry keypad code, it's supposed to be on the ecm somewhere. Not in the same place as the Expedition had it.

    Ideas?

    It should be in the Owners Manual, dealer can obtain the keypad code by running the VIN

    In the owners manual it states I can find the keypad code on the ecm. Or, as you said, just ask the dealer. But the dealer is closed now.

    Passenger side of the engine bay, on the firewall. Should have wiring harnesses plugged into it.

    You can also remove the passenger side kick panel (where the passenger's right foot is). On the back side of the box there you'll see the 5 digit code, you'll need a dentist or mechanic's mirror.

    To remove the kick panel:

    Open the passenger door. Pull up the front on of the plastic door sill plate. Pull the weather strip away (it goes right back on). On the front part of the kick panel there's a plastic door, remove that carefully taking care not to break any plastic clips. Pull the kick panel off, also being careful not to break plastic clips.

    I got almost that far. Went looking for my mirror but it grew legs. Will look into it today.

    Got the new mirror in there, no code. There's another ecm up higher almost inline with the glove box, I'll have to pull that out to check tomorrow.

    If you go to the dealership with your title or bill of sale, and the VIN, they can look it up. They shouldn't charge you for it, though some might try.

    Worst case you can try the "short" brute force method which takes anywhere from a few seconds to 20 minutes depending on what the code is.

    The short brute force method works because the pad doesn't care about numbers you enter before or after the proper code, only that the code is in the sequence. For example if the code is 15632 and you enter 7156324... the door will open, and you know that the code is somewhere in that sequence, and you can then start with each number, entering 5 digits, until you hit the right one.

    Here's a list you type in sequence (if you have someone read it out it's much easier). It covers every possible code in the fewest number of presses, and will help narrow it down to a short 7 digit sequence or so, which you can then use to narrow it down to the 5 digit code. Odds are you won't need to go through nearly the entire list before the door opens:

    Some guy when he figured out that it didn't matter where in a sequence the correct code appears, wrote a program to go through all the combinations and determine the shortest sequence covering them all. I got it somewhere in my bookmarks, back from when I first got my Powerstroke.
