12V conversion

    Just picked up a 57 Ford F100 straight 6!
    The previous owner converted it to a 12 volt!

    Planning on replacing all wiring harnesses, noticed there is no fuse box!

    What are my options regarding a fuse box, is it something that can or should be installed, or easier to stick with all the original inline fuses, etc?

    If it were me I'd get a fuse box. I've dealt too many times with chasing down blown fusible links or inline fuses, when its so much easier to look in one fuse box for a blown fuse.

    But they are very pricey. I've not done a full car or truck, but I have done an 8 circuit box and I got it on Amazon for a fraction of the price of Painless. Not as nice though.

    ford started using 12 volt negative ground in 1956, 1955 was the last of 6 volt positive ground systems ,save in ford farm tractors which retained 6 volt systems till 1965 than many of the motors used were still the same flathead 4 a model A used. ford diesel tractors went 12 volts in 1958 ,

    i'm with ken as i do restorations , swap in a new harness kit and be safe, that old wiring is pretty much dried out and dangerous . i use both painless and American autowire the powerplus 13 fuse kit should be more than enough https://www.americanautowire.com/shop/power-plus-13-wiring-kit
