As produced from the assembly plant, were the fuel tanks of 1952 Ford F1 painted to match the exterior color or were they installed as manufactured in galvanized original form?

    Thanks,

All the ones I have ever met were galvanized

    Thanks! That helps.
I'm doing a deep servicing on my 1952 F1 which my father bought new. It passed through the hands of a family friend who had it fully restored in 1980 and it's been in storage for the last decade or a little longer. The fuel system was plugged from tank to carb and the old tank was painted to same color as the gray exterior, hence my question regarding what will soon be the replacement tank.
    Cheers, Jeff

I guess at this point it would be personal preference.
Paint don't really like sticking to galvanize, but galvanize don't look good forever, turns patsy, and white. so in the end, it would be up to what you want to look at

The only tanks that were painted were the 1956/77 in-cab tanks.

Tanks mounted on the frame were as naked as a jay bird with no paint in sight.
