I have a 1954 Ford cab over engine. I’m wondering, will the standard 53 to 56 pick up truck doors be interchangeable if I find some in better condition than the doors on my COE?

Looking at your picture I would not think the doors would interchange due to the cut out for the fenders. Pick up doors are square on the leading edge. They could possibly be modified to fit but I am not sure of that. Nice looking project. Good Luck, Steve

 

Separately, what if we wanted to craft another cab to it, what year body lines would come close to matching up?

 

Considering the cab style you have, I believe 53, 54, 55 you might look at getting 2 good, non cab over doors and doing a very professional notch to the fenders matching the angle of when doors are fully open, sorta like the factory did it, but try to leave the wheel well opening lines intact. Need to consider if spacer blocks needed between axle and springs to avoid tire conatact with the notch. This is just a suggestion. Also if the existing lower door frames are workable, consider out door skins to just under the lower mirror bracket. Good Luck, nice project, I like it, Cap

 

As I assume you understand 53-55 COE doors are unique and only fit those 3 years. You might be able to graft a 56 COE door bottom on a 53-55 but why would you with their value beening as high as they are.

Many COE rebuilds are transformed into Quad cabs by simply using 53-56 cabs for the back. I'd look closely at the 56s as they're already kinda squared off at the doors. Any Quad cab rebuild will give you ideas.
