Did Ford use several manufacturers for their 6 cylinder (223ci) engines original carbs?

Looking to purchase a new one?

If buying new, any manufacturer suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

Hard to beat a Holley. Not sure of others used on the 6cyl Used a lot of motor craft and fomoco on the V8s
Just looked at Rock auto and they have a Holley available for $211.00

Make sure the carb you get is application correct. The stock engine used a distributor that only had vacuum spark advance, no centrifugal. The OE carb controlled that advance in all load situations. Your OE Holley, could be very rebuildable. "Holley"carbs usually have LIST # on them. Find it and you can search to find it's OE intended use.

i should have noted autolight was OEM we replaced a lot of them with direct fit holleys as they simply worked better and were easier to work on , i'd do a internet search find a carb rebuilder and have it done to a like new rebuild
we use Steve's Carburetor Shop · 147 Stuyvesant Ave. Lyndhurst, NJ 07071. (201) 935-3499. they come back like new

How original do you want? OE may have differed by GVW or by DSO, although DSO may have not mattered in that era, but by '62ish, California may have had regulations. If you just want one that is functional, I would try rebuilding what you have first.
Also, go through the electrical stuff, ignition problems usually feel like carburettor problems.
