    Hello all.

Wanted to take a second and introduce myself. Name is FordFella and I'm new (as you've obviously deduced) to the forum but not the Ford family trucks.

Just purchased a 1962 F100 Custom Cab unibody and plan to start the "budget build" soon. Figured I stop in here and look around (lurk) the forums. Was definitely excited to see other '61 to '63 Unibody builds!

Going to try and post a few pictures that I have of it with more to follow. I'm open to suggestions on the project too.

    Welcome to the ZONE!

Looks to be in good shape! My son Harley is halfway through his 61 Uni build. Chassis is all done and we just started on the body work...

If you don't mind me asking what power plant and transmission did your son decide on? I'm pretty sure I'm going to drop a 302/5.0 (carbed) into mine. Not sure on the transmission yet.

Edit: and thank you for the welcome! Haha

He went with a 312 Y block with tri-power and a top loader 4 speed. I'll see if I can find some pics of the chassis...

Frame was sandblasted, all unnecessary holes filled and seams blended in before we painted the chassis...

Very nice! That's the first few things I'm doing also. Pulling the body to have it all turned up and and having the chassis blasted and powder coated. Good call on filling in holes and blending and thank you for that idea haha!

How hard was it separating the body from the chassis?

No problem removing the body here. I have forklifts, tractors, tow trucks etc......

Haha, those would definitely help. My brother-in-law owns an auto body shop and the ability to remove the body, so I'm gonna ask him to do it. I'll have to get a few pictures of his "toys" and post them here. He has a few show winners to say the least haha!

Anyway, thank very much. Again, if you have any suggestions let me know. I'm no stranger to learning by the school of hard knocks but wouldn't mind avoiding some issues if possible.

I'll post more pictures of my truck this weekend as that's when I'll have it at my house. Already been shopping for it lol.

    1962 has 1964 grille. No Uni's after 1963.

I know the grill is wrong and that the uni's were only made from 1961 to 1963. The grill will be replaced. I'm trying to find a 292 now for it.

    1961/64 F100/600 available with 292 2V, VIN engine code (4th digit): C

One other thing has been bothering me about this truck. The badge/emblem on the hood, a lightening bolt, was supposedly for the 6-cylinder engines, however according to the VIN/Serial #: F10CG211241 the truck had a 292 V-8.

I'm going to see if I can read the VIN off of the frame to confirm the VIN on the title tomorrow. Just wondering if either the hood was replaced or has anyone seen the "lightening bolt" on a V8 from the factory?

As you can see, the glove box VIN plate matches what is on my title.

You are confused on the applications:

    C1TZ-16607-B .. Gear and Lightening Bolt Front Hood Emblem: 1961/64 ALL I-6 & V8 // 1965/66 I-6 only.

    C5TZ-16607-A
    .. V8 Front Hood Emblem = 1965/66 V8 only.
