I have a 1965 F100 long box with a 352. It came with power steering, I’m of the opinion that it originally came with power steering. I’m looking for a replacement gearbox. I can’t seem to find anything at any parts supplier that would be a direct replacement. The only thing I’ve been able to find is a rebuild kit that claimed to be for that year for that gearbox, The only problem is that I failed miserably at that. The housing was frozen so I was done before I got started.
Does anyone have any information on sources for a gearbox?

If it's 2 wheel drive. I believe Power Steering box from 1965 to 1979 F-100, F-250 and F-350 with Twin Eye Beam suspension will bolt in and work. Also think there was an improvement to the boxes in 1979. I have a 1979 box from a F- 350 in my 1967 F-350. Hoping BKW, our resident Ford Parts Guru will give some more detailed info.

Welcome to FTZ, let us know how you make out. Cap

P/S was not available for 1965 F100/250 2WD, so it's been swapped in.

Need to see a pic of the present gearbox, because there are TWO different types.

    1) Bendix P/S: 1966/68 F100/250 2WD, 1969 F100/250 2WD before serial number D96,001

    2) Ford/Saginaw P/S: 1969 F100/250 2WD from serial number D96,001, 1970/79 F100/250 2WD

    BKW,

    Thanks for your reply.

It’ s a Bendix. Just yesterday evening I was able to find a company that would do a guaranteed remanufacture using my core.

A quick update for the thread. I have run in to the same dead ends trying to find information showing that there were any ‘65’s that had power steering as an option. After stripping down this truck and seeing how this power steering gearbox was covered with the same 2-3 inches of oily mud that cover the rest of the chassis, motor and transmission, I would be surprised to learn that this wasn’t either original equipped or something added by the dealer when it was new. I’ll see what other documentation I can dig up to find out how this ended up on my truck. Thanks sincerely for your responses.

    P/S wasn't available for 1965 F100/250 2WD, 1966 was the first year.

Look up Rodes restoration in Galion Ohio. He can help. Will rebuild old box, may have a replacement. Used him several times , always straight forward only fixed things that needed fixed.

If all else fails with finding or rebuilding your box (and assuming it’s an early model Bendix box) you’ll more than likely get a lot of recommendations to convert to the later model Saginaw box.
But keep in mind, it’s about 2 7/8 inches longer than the Saginaw box, so you’ll need to use the shorter column with it as well.
Yes you can shorten yours but it’s more to it than it appears.
