1966 ford f100 Speedometer replacement, so it is cold out, and I thought I would look at some videos on the speedo replace of 1966 F100 custom cab. It looks like the best way to get the speedo cable out is to loosen the gable from the transmission first---- then take out the dash screws and wiggle the dash piece clear until I can get enough cable into the cab to undo the cable from the back of the dash. It looks like there would be enough room in the wires, maybe 8 inches to undo what is needed. Does that sound correct? Makes sense to me. I tried getting up under the dash from inside the cap and got stick under the brake pedal.

Sounds good. I don't remember if cable at dash unscrews or you push against a clip to release the cable.

 

No clips until 1973, earlier truck cables thread on/off the speedometer.
