I've been eager to convert my 1972 2wd f100 from front drums to discs and found a recent set on craigslist from a 1974 f100 for $300. Includes proportioning valve, hard lines (for comparison) and line brackets. See pic attached to thread. Thoughts on what I'll need to do to prep this and get it installed and whether or not it's worth $300?? Alternative is to visit a junkyard or spend $1000 on a conversion kit, neither of which I'm interested in. Thanks for any insights. This is a new process for me.

I can't say 100% if it's worth the price for sure because it's been 20+ years since I converted my 1967 F100 to disc brakes (and wrote the first online conversion article!). They weren't in demand back then like they are these days. But based on the condition, I would definitely point out some things to them and offer them less, see if they will take it!

You're going to need to replace or at the least get the rotors turned deep enough to get rid of the rust. The brake pads look worthless, most likely the calipers will need a rebuild kit, and the wheel bearings replaced. It looks like that truck has been sitting neglected for a long time.

Also, budget an alignment into this project. It will need it.

You will also probably want to put in new king pins and bushings, plus new radius and I beam bushings, new shocks and springs. Keep in mind those parts are almost as old as what your taking off.So by the time you get everything that you should replace you will be at or near the thousand
I wouldn’t want to do all that work without making it like new.

I bought my kit from Summitt racing. Spindles, rotors, king pins, everything for the disc brake set up except Master cyl and proportioning valve. All in one kit
I can send you part numbers and a bit.

The brake conversion kit I bought is not in the current catalog, but they have a couple new kits. One called The Right Stuff that looks good. You will need to call or go on line for the correct application.
LMC truck also has kits available as well. Their shipping charges are pretty high right now. Good luck
    Hope this helps
