Hello I have a 1972 Ford F100 360 5.9L. It’s been sitting for a while I got a new battery for the truck and it will only crank but won’t start. Need any suggestions of what might cause the the truck not to start.

Welcome to FTZ. "Sitting for a while", what's a while, yrs?? Two quick tests.
1, Pull the coil wire out of the distributor cap, hold it a 1/4 inch or less from metal on engine, have someone crank the engine over and look for a consistent spark. Keep you fingers away, you don't want to get Lit Up. If good, put wire back firmly. No spark, you have an ignition problem and needs correcting.

2, Pour some fresh gas, bout a shot glass full in the carb, and crank it over and see if it touches off. Do that a couple times if necessary, if it runs and quits you have a fuel problem. Start with smelling gas to see if it has turned to Varnish. If yes, don't try to run the engine any more until you drain the tank and install some fresh gas. Get the fresh gas thru the system all way up to the carb before trying to start again.
Let us know how you make out, Cap
