I have a 1986 F350 service truck 460 engine. trying to get smogged but having difficulty due to missing or broke components. I tried to purchase parts from Ford but was informed that those "Star ship Enterprise" looking things on top of and near the air cleaner with all the tubes connecting them are no longer available. So, my question is: are there alternative parts available and where can I purchase them?

The QUICK but not necessarily the correct way to go, is to re-register the truck as being kept in another county that doesn't test emissions, in your state. You live in ABC county, but keep it in DEF county, where there's no emissions testing. If your Whole State does emission testing, then look harder for the parts that you need. The Internet can be Extremely helpful in that regard. Not All parts have to be Factory parts. Manufacturers have a habit of discontinuing parts if a certain amount aren't sold in a given time. Check junkyards too. Or maybe even a parts donor truck?!? Hope this helps.
