    Hello,
I’m installing a NEW 19 gal. fuel tank in my 1988 F -150 because it was missing when I bought the truck. Since the old one was gone, I’m not sure if the new one is supposed to be mounted TIGHT against the upper cross-rails, or HANG from some bottom supports. I’m going to fabricate my own straps and because the tank is kind of a irregular shape I’m don’t know if I’m missing some RUBBER SPACERS or something. Thanks Greg

    Thanks Greg[IMG][IMG][IMG]#ad

    Ok
First thing you need to do is "shape"these 2 areas on the new tank, or your straps won't hold the tank up tight where it belongs

Thanks dustybumpers, good pictures, on top of the tank is it metal on metal or a thin rubber insulator?
    Thanks

Also is there some type of rock protector somewhere?
    Thanks

Factory used a piece of plastic with a tar filler
I cut an old rubber inner tube, and make sure to undercoat the tank good where it sits there

There is a plastic rock guard on the front of the tank, the strap holds it on
next time your in the junk yard, snatch one
I would just under coat it real good for now

    No problem, glad to help
That truck of mine looks kinda rusty in the pictures, lol
Guess I better freshen it up
