My 91 4.9 Liter F150 has given me fits this last year with emission problems and now I believe it is happy in that department FINALLY, but now the electrical issues have reared their ugly head. Weak grounds, that ECM connector and the ignition switch that has been stiff for a few years. Got the switch itself installed and now the lock cylinder jumps back more like it should but I believe the copper gear and actuator should be replaced. Haven’t had a chance to remove the steering wheel, but I already can see that my NO Tilt column calls for a different actuator than the one that seems to be the most abundant and affordable and for tilt trucks. I have seen that the 91 had an ignition switch recall and I wouldn’t be surprised if this particular truck never made it to a dealer for replacement. The part # that is visible once you turn the cylinder forward is
D4AW3E715BA. If you try to look that up you instantly hit a brick wall. The rod seems to be OK, but once you get the lock cylinder out of the lock position it is very sloppy still and I was hoping I could have the new parts ready to install when I get the steering wheel off. The gear seems to be universal, but the actuator is very specific in the NO TILT/MT columns. Does anyone know much about the recall replacement part or been through this with an NT/MT column?
