1995 Ford F-250 Temperature Gauge rising when going uphill

    Hello!
I have a 1995 Ford F-250 7.3 Powerstroke. Recently, I had a heater core leak and brought it to our local Wright Ford to be fixed, as we had tried to fix it before and failed. I got it back and everything seemed to be normal. I took a trip about a week later over the pass, and had to pull over after going up a long, steady hill to the summit because my truck was overheating. Pulled over, let it idle for 5 minutes or so, and was back on my way. Made it the rest of the way there no issue (mostly downhill). We called Wright Ford to ask if they had checked the temperature gauge when my truck was there, and they said they had, and our receipt showed that as well. Drove it back over the pass two days later, and issue did not re-occur, although the temperature did appear to fluctuate quite a bit, which is not typical behavior in my truck. The pass on the way back is also mostly downhill, with no big uphills like the way over, so I believe that factored into it as well.

Has this happened to anyone before? Any suggestions on what to look for?
    Thank you!

    Check your fan clutch.

Pressure cap too. If it doesn't hold pressure it will not cool as well because the boiling point isn't raised, so hot spots can develop air pockets. I've had both issues on different vehicles, fan clutch and pressure cap.
