I have a 1992 f-150 with a4.9 liter engine . Replacing original engine with a 1995 engine same i6. Seems I am having issues with engine binding, upon pulling in the last inch of bell housing to engine. Engine free spinning til I get to the last 1” of drawing engine to transmission. Could it be wrong torque converter binding when pulling all the way in .

it sounds like yo udo not have the torque converter fully seated into the pump. as you spin the TC, it should drop in three times.
i hope you did not ruin the pump housing trying to force the transmission onto the engine.

You need to pull the transmission back and do some measurement on both the transmission and the polit shaft area of the crankshaft. DO NOT RUN the motor with the transmission force onto the motor. If you do, there is a good chance you will be buying another motor because the forcing will put pressure on the main bearings and will wipe them out.
