Random ticking sound (tick, tick......tick, and so on) that seems to go away when warmed up. Any ideas?
    Thanks

The description would make me think piston slap, but that would be extremely uncommon this early in the engine's life. It needs to have a compression test done to verify. Could also be a wrist pin failure.

Mine is either a weak lifter or loose rocker arm. Normally a weak lifter noise will go away when it warms/pumps up. I'm actually getting rid on my truck today. 9,000 miles and I've had it with all the problems.

Did some asking around and research online, this appears to be a fairly common sound with the 6.7, which is related to oil changes. Supposed to go away or diminish after about 500 miles.
I remembered I had the same thing on my '07 Duramax, always after an oil change, which was attributed to microscopic air bubbles in the oil.
    I guess we'll see.
