2018 5.0 oil burn issues

    2018 f150 V8 5.0 purchased new in August 2018. Brought in for a knock and after some testing we find engine “consumes” oil.
    Ford replaces engine in May 2019. And after 1200 miles I see engine is low oil again by over a quart.

    No leaks.

    I see other forums discussing issues with the cylinder sleeves in 2018 engine. Can anyone confirm whether this is a known issue and whether ford has any TSB to address. Getting close to lemoning this vehicle. My 2014 v8 5.0 never had this issue nor “consumed” oil.
    ?PCB? Sensor was not the issue and was replaced prior to last engine getting swapped.

    Yeah, there's a TSB, see attached. Note that Ford says you need to let the engine site for at least 15 minutes after turning it off, because it can show up to a quart lower than the filled amount noted on the dipstick due to oil staying in the filter (anti-drainback valve). I'd do a quick compression check, that'll tell you if you have a real problem with oil getting past the rings, also check the PCV for excessive oil (a small amount is normal).

    I had the same problem. 20018 with 5.0. Truck used 1 quart per 700 miles. When truck hit 3000 miles and 4 quarts later. I changed the ford oil with Castrol Edge 5w-30 synthetic and the oil consumption completely stopped. I check my oil often and now its always good. Its got me scratching my head!
