I have 1,000 miles on my 2022 F250 7.3 gas, 3.55 rear end that I got end of December. Hwy milage has been running 14-15 mpg. Pulling a livestock trailer avg 9-10. Will Hwy milage mpgs improve ? What’s everyone else getting?

2020, same truck. Highway speed makes a BIG difference! I like HI speed, isn’t that what HIway means? I love 80-85, not saying that’s right but it’s fact. However if I set cruise on say 70- 72 it gets another mile a gallon or more. Towing??? Same deal…65 or so gets LOTS better than 75. if towing my 5th wheel 60-65……below 70 saves big bucks….but I absolutely hate 60-65 but isn’t that what you’re supposed to do when you retire, 10 under speed limit in left hand lane?? I’m still practicing, only been fully retired 9 months. Lol

P.S. with a friendly smile on my face, if someone asks me whatI get for mileage with a3/4ton I tell them if they ask they probably don’t want one! One guy driving a Prius asked saying he gets 35+, I just drove off..

Loving the new truck so far. Previous truck was 2011 F250 crew cab 6.2 gas 3.73 rear. I was getting 16-17 mpg highway and 9-10 pulling a trailer. Dealer told me this 7.3 gas and 10 speed would be as good or better. Hopefully as it gets broke in milage will improve some.

Wow! That was some good mileage!!! I don’t know what you were pulling for a trailer but I’ve never come anywhere near that wilt me 7.3. My trailer is around 13-14,000. I can get around 16 or so highway, not towing, but only if I run 65-maybe 70, flat rd cruise!! Maybe where I am the gas stinks, I seem to get better if I run fuel treatment every now and then. At any rate it is better than I expected for a 3/4 ton gas that towes like a bull!

With the winter blend of gas I am getting right around 14 to 14.5 mostly highway. No towing this winter to speak of. If I stay below 70 I get about 16 highway and about 8 to 10 towing at 65mph with the summer gas blend. When I hit 75 with the summer blend I get about 15+ as long as I don't get to crazy with the long skinny pedal. It has been that way since new. No increase with miles on it. Mine is a 2020 with the same motor and axle ratio. Crew cab 4x4
That is all hand calculated, not using the lie-o-meter.

Sounds about right!! I have found if I run some fuel system cleaner thru once in a while I believe it helps somewhat.

    My 6.2 V8 only averages 11.7 MPG!

This honestly sounds more like what I would of expected..combined city/highway with 60-70% of that highway..

Happy to hear I don't have an issue. Thanks, Don!

Went on 140 mile road trip today with 2022 F250 CCSB, 4x4, 7.3 gas, 10 speed and 3.55 rear. First half trip drove north into 20-25 mph wind cruise set at 65. Return trip tonight no wind. Pickup computer said fuel milage was 14.9. Filled up at gas station and hand calculated to 15.11

Mine didn't increase as it broke in either. I'm at about 16,000 now which I guess is about average 15 months??? More than I had hoped for. I bet that head wind hurt your mileage quite a lot, I have thought many times the head wind makes quite a difference on mine even when not towing. I do not really consider the F-250 all that aero, I may be wrong. Funny, I had owned exclusively Fords until 2012 and always thought they broke in slowly at least as far as mileage goes. Was really hoping that would be the case with this one (2020) 16,000 miles but not really looking that way yet. But like I tell people who's first question after they see my truck who always say "what a nice looking truck" is but "what do you get for mileage"? I reply "if you're that concerned with mileage, you don't want ANY 3/4 ton or heavier truck. Love that blue color!!

I have a 2020 diesel and get just over 20mph (hand calculated) at 72 mph on the Interstate (no tow) 13.6mph towing at 62 mph. about 16.4mph just driving around town. All are running at about 1650rpm with a 3.55 rear end. And it still isn't broken in at 27,000 miles.

Oh there’s o doubt the newer diesel will get better mileage..

What is your diesel cost per gallon where you live? I’m located in Midwest (Nebraska) Yesterday I paid $3.54 for gas. That makes my cost per mile 23.4 cents/mile getting 15.11 mpg. If that makes sense.
