Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and need help. Let me tell you the crazy thing that I'm doing. I have a 1986 F250 4 wheel drive, auto transmission. It currently has a 351 Windsor. I've taken a 460 out of a 1977 Lincoln and have had it rebuilt.
Now want to install it in the F250.

Issue 1 that I'm having: I'm installing a Melling High volume oil pump, oil pan not big enough.

Any suggestions Re: rebuild would be very helpful.
    Thank you.

How much clearance does it have now with the stock oil pan?

Oil pan is 8.25" deep, I would need 8.625" deep at a minimum to clear bottom. Thinking about modifying current oil pan. Get another oil pan cut about an inch out and braze into the original pan to extend the depth. Hmmm, just a thought ?

There's a ton of different oversized pans on Jegs and Summit Racing. Probably one of them would be deep enough. Is there a reason for a high volume pump? Are you building it for high rev and high power?

2nd on that question, stock pumps work just as well,
for a side note,i just finished a RB of a 289 hipo, stock pump when prepriming the motor with a drill turning 1200 rpm showed 50 pounds of pressure
