I got a 66 f100 with 240ci motor with 3speed . I’m swapping to a 351w . Im reading that the motor will bolt up to 3 speed ? Which flywheel and clutch do I need to order and what tooth ? Which starter will need ? Thanks

I found this book to be helpful with what parts will interchange. Should be able to find your answers. Got mine at a swap meet but I’m sure it’s available on line

Thanks for the answer I was hoping to find someone on here that do the same swap and most my questions are transmission to motor area questions

I can tell you make sure that the balancing is matched between the flywheel and harmonic balancer. Pretty sure most all of the pre 1980 small blocks were 28 oz externally balanced, after that they went to 50 oz.
As far as the starter / flywheel teeth as long as they match you should be good. Mine is 64 teeth.
Summit Racing will prop have a flywheel, clutch package available
    Good luck

    My 67 has a 302 with a C6. I believe it was also originally a 6cyl 3spd truck.
Was thinking last night you will prob need to know how many splines are on the input shaft, when you order the clutch. Also the pilot bearing in the end of the crank shaft

Did you have to change the engine perches on the frame to do this swap? im bout to do the same thing.

Yes you do, they will bolt in from a donor truck. If you have power steering, make sure the drivers side perch is from a ps donor

I was hoping someone had done this swap because I am wanting to swap my 240 for my 302 but leave the 3 speed in the column because it’s fun to drive. I do have the perches, got them on eBay, they were a little expensive for what they are.

So you decided to go with a 302 instead of the 351?
I’ve always liked and had good luck with the 302, have had several different vehicles with it, both new and transplants and all have served well. The first was a70 F100 302 -3 OTT , first F100 been hooked ever since.Even just replacing the 2brl carb with 4 really woke it up.

I had a 302 in my 65 Mustang and decided to go back with the original 289, so the 302 is just sitting in my shop. I wanted to go with a 429 but haven’t had any luck finding one. The 302 is reliable and has a small cam so it will sound good in the truck
