I have an opportunity to purchase two, f250’s for a very low price. Both trucks are 1989. One has a 6.0 diesel the other 7.3l diesel. I e heard these are sought after motors . Just wondering if anyone thinks that i will be able to resale for profit

An 89 7.3 is probably a non turbo , and I’ve never heard of any one Wanting a 6.0 unless they have one that has failed. It must be a transplant in a 89 , They didn’t start building them till 2003

The 6.0L will have more torque and power, but for not being a money pit, the 7.3L wins hands down.

The diesels offered in 1989 were the 7.3 IDI. One of them could have the earlier 6.9l IDI transplanted into it as the 6.9 and the 7.3 were the same engine, the 7.3 was a bored 6.9 and are easily interchangeable.
The 7.3 IDI has nothing in common with the sought after 7.3 powerstroke except displacement and had a good bit of electrolysis issues putting holes through the cylinder walls in higher mileage engines.

Got it. So the the actual 7.3 that everyone wants is a newer motor? Well 03 and up. Ok. I appreciate all the knowledgeable I was hoping to make a buck. The guy is actually giving me both trucks to get off his property. But I don’t want to get stuck with two more projects I’ll never finish

The Good 7.3 Powerstroke was used 94-2003, then they went to the 6.0, then the 6.4 twin turbo, and now a 6.7

    Well for free.....the 6.9 wasn't a bad engine, but it's no powerhouse. I think about 160 horsepower.

The 7.3l powerstroke was from midway through the 1994 model year to partway into 2003.
