76 F250 w/460 need automatic shift column

    I’m looking for a shift column for my 76 f250, seems to be hard to come by.

    Welcome to FTZ. How about repairing you original steering column?? Maybe check online to suppliers of parts for vintage trucks. Try, Dennis Carpenter, LMC Truck, and there are sites that dismantle trucks and offer used parts. Cap.

    If not, how about a JY in your area. Not sure but I Think ?? a F-150 would have the same column.
    Don't know what state you are in but here in ALA the JY I have been using just might have one.
    If you cannot find one let me know and I will give you some contact information.

    Thanks for the idea, will check the locals. Our yards recycle but there’s always a chance. Will contact you if no luck

    LMC sells new reproduced parts, as does Carpenter, National Parts Depot, Mac's Antique Auto Parts and etc.

    ALL the parts are obsolete from Ford, very few are reproduced. Ford never offered a complete new steering column, all the parts were sold individually.

    What's wrong with your present column? Buying a used column...it may be no better than what you have now, could be worse.

    Steering column is the same: 1973/77 F100/350, but there are variations.

    Automatic or 3 speed or 4 speed manual transmission, with/without Power Steering. With or without Speed Control.

    What is your trucks application?

    Thank for the response, been really busy. My 76 has automatic/ power steering/ cruise control. Apparently someone must have tried to shift it or something but broke the shifter and all associated parts? I’ve looked at the schematics and extremely hard to determine all that is associated. Figured if I could find a complete column including the wheel it would be awesome. ( my wheel is cracked and the wood grain horn is bad. I could use the old for parts. The JY here don’t keep much old stuff.

    The pot metal shift collar has an internal bridge that connects it to the shift tube. Over time it begins to crack, eventually breaks off....causing the shift lever to "flop around."

    Now you aren't going anywhere, because the collar is no longer connected to the shift tube.

    D5TZ-7228-A (replaced: CODZ-7228-A - C5TZ-7228-A & B - C9TZ-7228-A & D3TZ-7228-A) .. A/T Shift Collar Kit - Includes D3TZ-7A110-A plastic shift dial pointer / Obsolete

    1960/65 Falcon/Comet // 1961/77 F100/350 // 1973/77 Bronco /// 1960/72 shift collars had the pointer made as part of it.

    The newer collar has a notch in it where the plastic shift dial pointer fits into. Course, this doesn't concern you, as you have a 1976.

    CARPENTER NOS PARTS in Concord NC has 1 = 800-476-9653.

    GREEN SALES COMPANY in Cincinnati OH has 1 = 800-543-4959.

    LINCOLN-MERCURY OLD PARTS STORE in Clearwater FL has 1 = 727-445-7551.

    RPN PARTS in McKean PA has 2 = 888-666-0916.

    At one time, this collar was also made by Dorman Products, available from NAPA and etc. auto parts stores.

    1975/77 F100/350 & 1976/77 E100/350 (Econoline) with Speed Control use the same steering wheel, horn pad and T/S switch.

    The horn pad does not include the Speed Control Switch, was furnished separately.

    All these parts are obsolete, no one has the steering wheel or horn pad NOS

    There was a Ford dealer in Porterville California that had a few of the T/S switches (D5TZ-13341-B), dunno if they still do or not.
