Good day everyone…rescued a 79 F150 4x4 I6
changed all ignition components…had spark then noticed some ground issues…add new wire battery to Block, reconnected hood to fire wall,
New ground from Block to cab/firewall.

I now have no spark….pulling my hair out lol
Could I have fried new ignition module or coil with bad grounds?
Turns over, all marker lights work now, headlights no ( will check those grounds eventually)
Just need to get it running and park it in the barn for winter…
Any ideas greatly appreciated

Do you have 12v at the + side of coil, run a jumper from battery to coil an d see if it will start
If it runs with jumper, then start working your way back to you find where you loose power

 

Welcome PM79. "Could I have fried new ignition module or coil with bad grounds?" Good question, I'm thinking not. If no repair manual, search online for "Troubleshooting Ford DuraSpark II Ignition System". Did you try the original Module again? Original should have had a Blue grommet where wires go into the case. Your new one shud be same. Go online to Fordification, find wiring harness diagram for your truck. See about one or two Fusable Links located near the Starter Solenoid inside R F fender. Test link wire(s) for power at each end. It/They starts on the solenoid stud the positive battery cable attaches to. The Harness Diagram should show where the go. Those link(s) feed power to the Whole Truck and may bring the charge from the Alternator directly to the battery. A note, if you have an Alt or Amp gauge, they never work. If yours Does, you have one in a thousand. Just suggestions for you spark problem and other maladies for need to find out about. Cap
