    Hello All,
My truck is riving me nuts! I've had it about 10 years and it has been a good daily driver until it blew a head gasket a while back. I replaced the heads with a re-manufactured set and now it runs rough and has about 12 inhg at idle with no power. Compression is between 150 and 160 with a cold motor leakdown is about 10% smoke test shows a minor leak at the throttle body bushings. I set it for TDC and verified rotor position and firing order. I even checked exhaust temps with a thermal camera 1,4,5 and 8 show hot but 2,3,6 and 7 show cold backed up by plug appearance. what am I missing?

    welcome to the site,

did you install the intake gaskets correctly? do you have any broken vac hoses? did you lash the valves correctly ? to tight?

Gaskets are correct no leaks showing with smoke test, it has hydraulic lifters but, I verified valve lash, replaced all of the vac lines with new silicon. I did locate three injector connectors with insulation cracked/missing on the wires so, I pulled the harness and repaired them. I'm going to run some tests this evening when I finish putting it back together. I'm sure there is a reason for having the big air box that is in the way of everything but it is a pain to work around!

Found the problem. Would you believe the insulation cracked and fell off of a pair of my injector leads shorted out and took out the transistor in the ECM?
