The Headlight switch in my 96 Explorer finally gave up, and the plastic towers that it screw too were broken off, so I had to figure a way to make a new switch work in the dash
Here is the repair

Remove the negitive battery cable

Remove the 2 screws in the radio bezzel, thn pull the whole assembly out about 2"

remove 2 bottom screws, and the 2 screws in the hood opening latch. remove panel, by rasing bottom, then pulling straight

remove 3 screws from dash in fronr of speedometer guages #ad


Remove metal pan from under dash #ad


remove 2 screws from bottom of speedometer bezzel
#ad

Tilt wheel to full down position

Put key to on, put gear selector in 1 ( make sure parking brake is set)

Remove bezzel by pulling back and up. Use caution when coming out, wiring ti lights is on the left, bring bezzle from the right, over the column. Then unhook the wiring

Here you can see the post broken off the bezzle, still attached to the switch

I decided to just use pan head bolts and nylon nuts to hold it back in
Here I ground down the post flat where they were sticking up

drilled them out #ad

bolted in the new switch
#ad

Finished look now has pan heads
#ad
Hook wires back up
#ad


Put it all back together, and your finished!
