This is my 99 Mustang, we call her Green. I've had her since 2000, before I picked her up she was a Hertz rental down in GA. She has been through 170k miles, an ex-wife, two kids, many road trips and DC commuting and has even served as temporary quarters during a rough patch. I don't think I'll ever be able to sell her.

Current modifications are BBK CAI, some 8.5mm MSD wires, Mach 1 grill delete and chin spoiler, GT take-off rear sway bar, Tokico HP Blues, FRPP "B" springs and FRPP Anthracite Bullitt wheels wrapped in 245-45-17 General Tire Altimax HP's.

Next up is a swap out to a manual transmission. I just picked up a donor car and a new clutch kit. I should be getting underway with that soon. Next weekend the garage is full as I'm helping a friend put airlift bags on his 2012 super duty, so after that the fun begins. I've been wanting to do this project for years, but never could find the right parts car for the right price when I had the right money...

Thanks. I've come to the point a few times where I was going to sell her, but never could do it. She sat in the garage for the last few years. Last inspection was in 2011.

You gotta get her back out on the street as soon as you can spend the time and effort. The feeling is just to good to pass up. Your car might start singing a sad song about you.

    Like:

You never close your eyes anymore when you wax my hood...
And there's no tenderness anymore like you know there should
And I just feel like leakin' (baby!)
'Cause Baby! muscle car time is peakin'

    "You've Lost That Drivin' Feelin'
    whoa, that Drivin' Feeling.
    You've Lost That Drivin' Feelin'
Now it's gone, gone, gone Whoa, Whoa whoa.

Baby, baby I burn out my rear tires for you
If you would only drive me like you used to do
We had a ride, a ride, a ride you don't find every day
So don't, don't, don't let me rust away

    ............................................................................................

Damn, er, umm, kinda got carried away there. Now you have to get your car running AND get that song out of your head....:singing:

Stripped the donor car of all the needed parts this weekend. Selling the shell and engine separately netted me what I paid for the donor, leaving me all of the manual parts for free. Also was able to replace some of the more worn out interior parts on mine. The shell left today to begin a new life as an 1/8th mile street rat somewhere south of Staunton.

    Some pics.

Good to hear you moved the shell quickly. Did the motor go too, or is that still sitting around?

No. Motor is still in the floor. Buyer bailed. I'll give it a week, then I'll scrap it. Still gotta scrap the cat anyway.

Did some cleanup work over the weekend, parts are still coming in the door. I might actually get this done in the next couple of weeks. Some more pics.

Got some more shinies in tonight, Steeda clutch cable, adjuster and quadrant kit, as well as offset urethane rack bushings since it's slightly lowered. Waiting on the clutch pivot ball. I want to replace the fork too, but it is on a national backorder from Ford and aftermarket vendors. Luckily it doesn't have the groove that the ball has in it.

After talking with few other people and chatting with Torrie down at Unleashed in FL, I've ordered up a X4 from him and he will be writing the tunes for me. I'll tell you what, his pre-sale customer service is great, and he came recommended by a few people that I've come to trust. Bama really didn't want to give me the time of day until I had already spent the money, even when trying to talk to them at Carlisle weekend before last. I also ordered the new clutch fork Friday, they are finally back in stock at the places that don't want to rape you. The last of the parts should be in this week and then it's go time. I'll be glad to get this knocked off finally and bring a new joyful era of driving the old girl.

Ah yes, tuning...something I'll be having to think about this winter. I was looking at 5-Star when the go-faster parts are all bolted up. Wonder if I should consider some others as well....

Good to hear your parts are rolling in.

And she is alive!! Worked on it for a couple hours a night starting last Wednesday, finished it up around 1130 Saturday. Man does that tune from Torrie make it purr, and she has a noticeable growl in the higher rpm's now. Third pulls like crazy for a v6. This is just a preliminary tune to make sure the changes for removing the A/T went correctly, we'll firm things up now that it's running. With the stock 2:73s I'm turning around 1900-2000 rpm at 70mph. The more I think about it I might not make the planned jump to the 3:73s that a friend offered to give, it ought to make it a nice road trip car again. Still plenty of getup around town and pulls nicely on the highway in 5th. I've got lots of pics to sort through and will be doing a write up eventually as all the ones out there lack any sense of direction and are full of laughably incorrect information. I'm really happy with how everything slid together and it all looks nice and stock, save the obvious upgrades.

I will say, after the first test drive, you could see my smile a mile away...
