My 52 F1 is a daily driver. Original 239 Flathead with 3 speed on the column - straight front axle. No AC, No PS, No PB --- but he's my daily driver. I've had it since April and have logged about 5k miles. I do a road trip to North Carolina every couple of months. It's over 300 miles one way. It's not fast; as I don't exceed 65MPH (typically 60MPH or less), but it just runs so nice.

I keep it maintained with regular oil changes; I add additive to the fuel on every fill up and make sure all fluids are topped off. One day, I'll upgrade the motor and transmission, but for now - I'd drive this thing anywhere!

I really like your post!! I used my 66 as a D D for 10 plus yrs after a frame off. Doing a frame off again now, because I didn't undercoat it. I downgraded from a 352-V8 to a 240-6. Why? at my age the need to burn rubber was gone But..... the power under the pedal is/was always tempting and temptation got the best of me to often, LOL. I did some upgrades to the 240, listed below. With the fuel additive keeping your 239 running sweet, why pack it in?? Two improvements I see are, Dual exhaust with stock mufflers and an Overdrive Transmission to cruise the highway at lower RPM's. OD may have been a option in 52 and it would have been for 3 speed on the column. Bet there's one out there somewhere for ya. Keep us updated on what you do to the 52, with some pics along the way, WE LIKE PIC'S.

Welcome Aboard FTZ! What a Great Truck! I see the updated steer column?? The people who stop and ask about Our Vintage Daily Driver's are usually very nice to talk with. You can tell all about her (or him if that's your reference, LOL) Cap
