I come home off the road to a dead battery. Probably a dead cell is my best guess. My question is, can I use a deep cycle battery as a cranking battery. Thanks for any help.

You can, but they have less cranking amps per size, so you'll need to use about a 20% larger battery. I'd consider using a regular battery and a Battery Minder ( https://amzn.to/2pViPZ5 ) or Battery Tender ( https://amzn.to/2GHVaoH ). I have both, prefer the Battery Minder because it's about double the amperage as the Battery Tender. Both will charge and maintain a battery. The Battery Minder also has a restoration mode which uses voltage pulses to remove sulphate from the battery's plates to bring it back to life in most cases. I use the Battery Minder on my diesel because I don't drive it much and it has two batteries needing the extra amperage. My F150 I only drive once a month or so and it's on the Battery Tender.

K I went back with a regular battery like what came off it. Got a great deal from a local shop. What I would like to do is set up a solar panel to keep it charged up while I out on the road. I am gone about 6 days at a time and have no access to any electrical outlets to plug in a maintainer or any other plug in devices thus I'm looking at a solar device that is capable of keeping up to three batteries charged. I will also have two deep cycle batteries to run a 12 volt fridge for road trips and camping
