On my 1978 F150 400 eng I found the two bolts that fasten the inspection panel on the bell housing have became loose and rattled out the hole. Can’t seem to get anything to hold. Any good fix’s out there?

Retap the holes to the next larger size

Can’t very well since the holes are in the thin metal between the bell housing and the eng…not much naterial

Ok most that I’ve seen the bolts go into the bell housing
Could you put a nut Zert into the metal to bolt into

Interesting idea and not a lot of room to operate. I’ll give that a try

On the smaller sizes you can use a nut and bolt for the install tool, instead of the big tool that is normally used

Braze the holes, and re thread them.

Your description sounds like a tin plate (inspection cover) attaching to the tin, spacer plate, between the bell housing and engine block. Can you drill the holes in the inspection cover slightly larger and use a stubby, hex head, sheet metal screw/bolt just larger enough to bite in and grab the spacer plate holes.
