Hi, I am new to this Forum. The question I have is, my Dad purchased a 1989 F-150 2x4 single cab long box with a 5.0 engine. It has less than 50k on the truck. He made a mistake and bought the truck while it was sitting in a dark garage. When following the truck home he noticed that the box was sitting higher on the passenger side of the truck. The next morning he went to investigate. The entire underneath of the truck was solid mud and I mean solid is an understatement. Now for the question. Is it better to swap everything over to a different frame or bring to the frame shop and have it straightened if it is even possible? And if we do the frame swap what years and what size trucks will work? F-150 F-250?

    welcome to FTZ.
150 and 250 frames are different. they will swap, but the 250 frame is thicker.
and the speedometer rolls back to zero at 100,000 miles, so it very well could have a lot more miles on it than you were told.

I'd clean it off, and check it.
My 95 f 150 was sold to me cheap for a bent frame
Turned out to be the rear spring hanger on the left side was rusted through.
I replaced all 4 spring hangers and the truck sits fine now.
Best $600 truck I ever owned!

    If you do switch out frames, the 80-81 f 100 light duty . 80-91 f 150
    80-91 f250-350
    92-96 f 150. 92-97 f 250- 350 superduty
Diesel and 460 used the same frame from 87-97

Is there a difference between the 4x4 and 2x4 frames? We have found a 4x4 frame that is decent. Only difference is it is a 4x4 and an extended cab. Will this frame work?

a supercab frame is a lot longer than a regular cab frame.

    E2TZ-5005-N .. Frame Assy / Obsolete

    Some 1980/83 F100/150 2WD & F150 4WD Regular Cabs w/a 133" wheelbase (8' bed) except with "Swiss Cheese" frames.

    1984/89 F150 2WD/4WD Regular Cabs w/a 133" wheelbase (8' bed).

F150 Super Cab frames will not work, F250/350 frames will not work.

All 1980/83 F100's were Regular Cab 2WD's. 4WD & Super Cabs were not available.

Super Cabs from this era (and back to 1974 when it was introduced) are 2 doors. To get in the back seat, the right and left front seat backs were folded forward. Watching a fat person trying to get in the back seat was like watching a Laurel & Hardy film. Hardy weighed 350 lbs. and was constantly getting stuck in all sorts of places. Laurel was skinny, tried to help get Hardy unstuck, which usually resulted in Hardy's coat and/or pants being torn.

Are you certain it's the frame and not a sagging spring, or bend suspension component?
