OK, I am new here, and I have had my 68 F100 for almost a month now. It sat for 5 years, I had it running the next day. Here is my question, I start the truck, truck warms up pretty, gas gauge goes to middle, as the truck warms up, than the gas gauge goes up, the heat gauge goes to hot, almost pegged out, but with a heat gun, it is about 160, just got a temp gun to check it and make sure I dont burn it up. gas gauge continues to go up to.

    360 with a 4 speed, regular cab,

    Welcome To FTZ.

On back of gauge cluster there is a small gauge voltage regulator (see pic in link below). It may be bad letting full battery voltage to the gauges. Assuming if you have idiot lights, for Oil n Alt instead of gauges or Oil gauge would also go out of wack. I believe these little regulators, pulse, I've never had to test one. Possibly with a DVOM showing voltage varying or a test light showing varying intensity.

the cvt flashes very quickly and is hard to measure with a digital meter, an analogue meter should show a reading between 6-8 volts. They are very inaccurate and even a new one is ballpark. But they fail, and are cheap, so that would be my guess as well.
