cold air intakes

    hi
    i recently installed a cold air in-take and noticed in the tubes things that looked like fan blades
    should i leave them in or take them out ?

    Usually, it helps to give details because people don't know which engine, which intake kit, etc.

    But those two particular parts are stock Ford parts I recognize, intake silencers for the Ecoboost engine. Leave them, their job is to cause the air flow to be the reverse of the turbo blades to help performance a small amount, and to reduce blow-off valve noise. There are dyno results proving they provide a very slight increase in power, about 6HP and 10 lb/ft torque.

    Dyno pulls have also shown that most cold air intake kits for the F150 Ecoboost actually result in less power as the engine heats up. In other words, Ford's intake does a better job pulling in colder air. If you want dyno verified power gains, some aftermarket turbo downpipes do increase power.
