    Cruising the Natchez Trace Parkway
My Wife and I along with 6 other Car Club members cruised the Natchez Trace over the weekend. Great weather but a little warm and definitely too dry. I found that central and north Mississippi hasn't had any more rain than we in the southern part. Our Ford truck ran flawlessly and averaged better than 18 mpg for the whole trip (even running the a/c). I have the aod set to shift into o/d at 40 mph which is perfect for the 50 mph limit on the Trace. The road is getting a little rough in places but all in all a great trip. Finished up at Tupelo yesterday and headed home. 850 miles altogether. We ran into a Flathead Ford car club out of Texas that were heading all the way to Nashville. Can't keep these old Fords down!! Have a good week, Steve

Steve, back in my wild college days at Florence State Teachers College/ Florence State College/ University of North Alabama (in the 60's) Lauderdale county was dry . We had to drive 13.7 miles to Tenn to buy beer... then we'd head over to the trace to party... and camp... good times back then. Haven't been back since... glad ya'll had a good ride

    Steve,
What power train are you running? Can't get 18 MPG in my 05 DAKota.

351 W / AOD with 3.55 rear gear. I was the only Ford on the cruise so we had to stop more often for fuel to feed Chevies! But then none of them had overdrive. Steve
