    Hi

We need a carburetor for our daughter's 72 Ford Ranger Camper Special with a 390 engine. What is the correct carburetor for this engine?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you!

The Standard V-8 for that truck would be a 360. Do you have decals or something verifying its a 390?? Post the first 4 digits of the warranty plate on the drivers door and we can verify the engine the truck was built with. Does it have the Original carb on it now, 2 barrel or 4 barrel?? Is there a tag on one of the screws atop the carb?? AND welcome to FTZ! When you solve your carb search, let us know how you made out. Cap.

The carburetor is not original. The VIN is F25HRN05218. The door tag also includes 131B6F253K4G38. The truck is not standard. We need the correct 2 brrl carburetor for the truck. Thank you for the help! Have a great day.

On your correct carburetor from factory, it would have been a 2100 series Auto-Lite/Motorcraft. Parts book says, part number is D2TZ 9510-J for Standard shift and for C6 auto, change the letter J to K and it was updated/replaced by D3TZ 9510-N for both standard and auto.

Open the link below from FTE, posted by Bill Wilson the Ford parts Guru on FTE and here on FTZ. It happens to be about your exact truck.

Although the poster said he has a 1976 Camper Special, Bill seems to think the engine was replaced by a 1972 390 and talks of intake manifold and cyl head #'s to help verify it is a 72 engine.
