    Hello everyone,

I'm currently in the process of stripping down a 1978 F150 Custom 4x4. The body is terrible and can not be repaired. It is the definition of a rust belt truck. It will serve as a donor truck for my other 1978 F150 Custom 4x4 and my brothers 1979 F250 Ranger. It has no title.

The frame on the donor truck has dual front shocks and a coil on each side. I've seen plenty of trucks with just a coil or single shock and coil, but I've never seen this.

I'm trying to figure out what year this frame is from. I would like to hear some opinions on this set up. I would really just appreciate any help or feedback I can get.

    Thanks for your help!

There was a factory dual front shock option for the 4x4 1978-1979 F-150 and Bronco so it's correct for that donor truck.

if that shock mount is bolted on? someone installed it, or it may have been a option i had a 95 f150, single shock went to the bronco dual. drilled out the rivet's the bronco bolted right in , advantage i found was a much smoother ride

I too have a 78 F-150 4x4 with duel front shocks. One shock is shorter than the other. The longer shock is very close to the rear shocks in length. Common?
