Engine sqealing

    Hi All,

    I'm appealing to you guys who are better diagnosticians than I am (which is most of you!)

    I bought a used '96 300 cu in six to put into a project and have only run it for a few minutes at a time but I get a pretty loud squeal when it runs. It still does it with the serpantine belt off so it's not the belt or accessories. It's not low on oil but I fear it may be dry bearings. It's hard to turn over when starting and dies if I don't keep it revved up. Any suggestions?

    check for a vacuum leak, that can have a squeal sound when running.
