F150 cold starts issue

    i have an F150 when i start it on cold starts with the remote the engine makes a load rattle noise like there is no engine oil in it when i start it with the push botton in the truck its fine no rattle any idea what this is.

    Have you verified by standing outside the truck when it's started without remote start? What about if it's started with the remote, but when someone is in it? I'm thinking it may be one of the heat shields rattling (seen this before).

    Can you post a sound clip? There's so many things that can rattle from heat shields, to timing chains & tensioner, cam phasers, etc.

    i actually stood outside the car and used the remote to start and it rattled jumped in shut it off then started it with out the remote and it was fine

    what motor is in that truck, sometimes rattling on cold start is worn timing chains, noise goes away when oil pressure builds up, taking the slack out of them. if your firing up cold with a remote, shutting down and refiring the OP is built up you won't hear the rattle again till it sits for a while
