Hi, I'm new to the forum. I have a 94 F250 with auto that is stuck in park. Does anyone know what could be the reason. It will start but won't go into gear. Thanks Robert Lee

if i remember correctly, starting in 92 you had to step on the brake to release the shift solenoid in the steering column.
do the brake lights work when you step on the brake pedal? if not check the switch for proper adjustment and the fuse for brake lights.

As Tom said, Brake Switch? Are the fuses all good? Do you have brake lights when the brake pedal is pushed down? If that switch is not activating, I do believe you will be stuck in park.

Also check your ABS. If the ABS light is on, or there is a "limiting" event with the ABS, you won't get it into gear either.

Thanks Seabiscuit. The brake lights and the ABS lights on the dash are always on. Do you know what that could mean ?

thanks Tom I will be checking those things. As I told Seabiscuit my brake lights and ABS lights on my dash are always on. What do you think that could mean?

drake light may be low brake fluid in the master meaning you are about to need front shoes.
ABS light i have no idea on, the only vehicle i have with functioning ABS is my 2014 . everything else either never had it, or it was disabled long long ago.

Brake light = low pressure so lack of fluid, over extended calipers, bad - worn out pads or shoes, bad/leaking wheel cylinder (rear brakes) which could also effect the ABS. I am not really familiar with the ABS. I believe that in addition to the other obvious mechanical / fluid reasons there is also a switch on the rear axle, but we'll need someone with more knowledge than me to fill you in on that. Hopefully one of our resident mechanics will notice this shortly.

I start seeing multiple faults or errors like that, I usually start making plans to raid my fishing money and see someone with a full shop full of diagnostics and tools who also happen to have more brains than I. I could change a hydraulic pump or a turbo jet engine on the airplane and even made a pretty decent Flight Engineer. BUT at some point in the 90's the automobiles got more brains than I had been issued.

Thanks Seabiscuit, sounds like there could be multiple issues with my truck. Time to bring in the big guns. My grandson is an auto/diesel tech for UPS. He is very busy at at his work. I will try to steal him for a few hours to sort my truck issues out. Will keep you guys posted. Thanks Robert
