    Hello,

Does anyone know how to get the appropriate fan shroud? How to know if the truck has super, extra, standard cooling? I ordered a part from NPD(F-8146-4) that didn’t fit and ate the shipping cost. It was to small to be attached.

    Any suggestions are much appreciated
    Thanks!

More info needed, post the top line of the warranty plate on left door. Need your serial # to choose correct original Ford part # for your truck. Engine? 300,360,390? Std or C6 auto?
For the 72 truck with 360, 390, part # D3TZ 8146 C seems the original shroud starting at a particular serial #. Below is a link to aftermarket shroud from C&G ford parts. Searching on internet for that part # may give you other sources.

Seems most that are offering say, fits 68 to 76, so you might have a larger window of years to look for a used one, maybe at a pik n pull auto recycler.

Thanks for the reply uploaded the image of the tag. It’s a 360 engine, rear wheel drive. The hurdle is in the different types of cooling options at that time. The model listed in the link above is what I went with from NPD, but wasn’t the right side.

OK, your truck built April, 1972. San Jose, CA plant. Serial # is P0950.
More questions. Do you have the broken or bad shroud for the truck? Do you know if the radiator is a Ford radiator or after market?
If you have shroud, did you search it for some kinda Ford #? There should be a # unless that piece is broken away. If there is post it.
If it's a Ford radiator it will/might have # on the top tank, if so post the #, no #, I'd say prob after market.

On different cooling systems available. Std, HD, Xtra HD. Usually it means the more rows of tubes in the radiator, like Std 2 rows. HD 3 rows, Xtra HD 4 rows. The same top and bottom tanks could be used for all 3 types.

Ford Parts Catalog I have says D3TZ 8146 C is the correct shroud for you truck. I searched further on line and a thread with Mr Wilson (aka, Number Dummy), our resident Ford parts Guru posted in the link below says it's the correct shroud. SO.......... there is something changed, not stock about YOUR radiator/shroud ass'y. You'll see his mention of 4 tube radiator.

Read the whole thread, there is a ton of info there.

I'm BKW here, on FTE I'm NumberDummy.

The FTE referral info is 10 years old, things have changed since.

There are two possible fan shrouds for 1968/76 F100/350 360/390

    C7TZ-8146-B
.. Fan Shroud - Use with Super Cooling Radiator / Reproduced by Carpenter

Marked on upper left corner: C7TA-8146-H or D2TA-8146-HA or D3TA-8146-JA

    Super cooling radiator is 26 1/4" wide x 24 11/16" high

    Applications: 1967 F100/350 352 // 1968/76 F100/350 360/390
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
D3TZ-8146-C (replaced C8TZ-8146-K) .. Fan Shroud - Use with standard, xtra cooling & A/C radiators / Not used with Super Cooling radiator / Reproduced by Carpenter

Marked on upper left corner: C8TA-8146-S or D3TA-8146-DA

The standard, xtra cooling and A/C radiators radiators vary in height and width, but are no higher than 19 3/4"

    Applications: 1968/76 F100/350 360/390.

btw: I haven't been on FTE for a year, haven't been here in ages. Burned out. Got an email several days ago inre to a thread I responded to here, so thought I'd take a look-see.
