I'm finally getting started on my 73 Galaxie 500 project. It is a driver & will remain that. Its a 2 dr hardtop with 74,000 original miles, 400 2bbl, 3 sp criuse-a-matic. I'm getting ready to have dual exhaust put on. It needs a front seat reupholstered, the paint is original an will stay untouched, I want either fancier Ford period correct hub caps or new wheels. Here is a picture.

It looks to be in great shape! Perhaps some wax, and I'd address the wheel wells as I saw a small rust spot forming. I guess everything on it works? Brakes aren't froze up? What kind of mufflers are you going with?

    Nice looking car!
I had a 72. What a great car THAT was.

    Thanks.

I'm planning on 2" pipe with turbos from Napa. Yea there a a few small surface rust areas that need attention. When I wax it out the paint it looks pretty good.
Everything works but the A/C, needs a new compressor & filter drier.
We drive it all the time. My wife commutes to work 100 miles round trip on a rural highway. She drives it sometimes. Her main commute car is her 99 Crown Vic P71. But she likes driving the 73 Galaxie as a change once in awhile. It cruises nice at 70 mph. In the winter she likes the heater. Typical older Ford heaters that can run most of us out of the car.

One is for an explorer, the other for a 90 f 250

The compressor is a York fairly straight forward. The issue is the filter/drier. Whatever I use will have to be modified. The filter/drier & hoses are one piece. So I will have the hoses cut & re-cripped to the filter. The closes place to get that done is 175 miles away.

You can still get the filter separate. I have 2 here. I'll get the part # off them for you tomorrow

Yea I aware of that. Thanks. Its getting the hoses reconnected that will be the issues for me. Unless the filters have barbed ends that can be clamped with hose clamps like in the old days. If not they have to be swedged with a machine. The closest machine is 175 miles away. If I have to do that I might be better off to just take it to a shop that has everything to convert because it is the same distance away.

We live in the middle of nowhere. The closest wal mart is 175 miles away. we just have the raw basics here. We have to travel 120 miles to doctors or the closet hospital. We are going Christmas shopping tomorrow & it is a trip to Bishop CA 120 miles away.
