I have installed a new electric choke holley and new coil and remanufactured starter but it will start real easy when cold but after I drive it a bit and wait 30 minutes I am lucky to get it started, any help appreciated

the 351M in my 79 was very hard to start once warmed up. i lowered the float lever in the holley a bit, it was flooding from heat soak once i shut it off hot.

    Does it "drag" crank hard?
Or does it crank easy and just not start?

Have you checked the choke adjustment?
Check the float levels also, best to check when acting up.

You cannot find any better running truck when you are driving it BUT when you shut it off and try to start it you had better wait a few hours then it will start. Do not know how to check float level but the choke is working fine.

Sound like vapor lock/hot soak. Could be caused by a collapsing suction hose, clogged filter or carb or a weak pump.

When heat evaporates the fuel , boils it... out of the carb and lines.
When it won't start, check for fuel in the bowls.
If empty it takes a while to pump fuel back into the carb.

wrap a piece of foil around the supply line from the fuel pump to the carb filter, and see if there is any change

Use to put clothes pins on the lines. ....My 53 would vaporlock when 90 plus outside.
Can you even buy wooden clothes pins anymore?

Walmart sells the wooden cloths pins
We use them on our outside cloths lines to (gasp) hang cloths

You can get only the spring clip style now, the wedge ones are a thing of the past.
They are available in wood or plastic

(pretty sure Seabiscuit gonna bash me here now.......)

I wrapped the fuel line from the pump to the filter. I hope I did it right for I put the dull side of foil on the outside
