This part is leaking gas pretty badly. Any help to identify it so I can fix or find a replacement would be greatly appreciated! Its the block right in front of a 1970 2 barrel carburetor. 20230425_203341.jpg #ad

Seen a lot of 70s era ford 2 barrels, but never seen that part.
Normally have a filter threaded into the carb and the fuel line attached with a short rubber hose.
I would eliminate the part and get a filter

That is a pressure regulator. IF your engine has a stock mechanical fuel pump, there would be no need for that regulator. I would do a fuel pump pressure test to see what the mechanical pump on the engine is putting out. Thinking 5-7 PSI, no more than 7. Combination Fuel Pump / Vacuum testers are Very Reasonable at auto parts stores and a Great piece of test equipment to have. Cap

1964/72: The corrugated paper cartridge fuel filter fit inside a canister that threaded onto the pump, did not thread into the carburetor until 1973...on some.
