    I have a 1991 F350 w/ 5.8L fuel injection
It currently has single exhaust from the y before the catalytic converter. Most of the piping is shot. What type of system would be best to for optimal hp and fuel economy?
    Thanks

I have always preferred a pair of good long tube headers with 2.5” pipe and good flowing mufflers, if you are in a state that requires you keep the cat, there are high flow cats available too,
Never had one but I have read that an H pipe will balance the power, and give an increase
It doesn’t have to be obnoxiously loud to help the power.

Yeah, that's about the same thing I would recommend. Short tube headers really don't gain you anything.

I wouldn't expect huge gains, typically about 10HP and 20 ft/lbs on an exhaust setup alone, with something that's got a lot of miles on it. By the time you do the intake, new O2 sensors, etc. to gain some economy, you've spent so much that it will take a huge number of miles to gain back what you spent.
