I started an engine overhaul of a new barn find (1972 f100 5.9 360 2wd auto) last week and discovered that two vacuum lines between the exhaust manifold and my original Motorcraft carb that have deteriorated and detached at the manifold end. I assume this is essential for a hot air manual choke. Right? Has anyone encountered this and found a way to reconnect to the manifold? I’ll try to include some pictures…

That is Hot Air Tube for "Automatic Choke". You might search online to see if it is available out there some where. It is, say, hand pressed into the manifold about 1/2 to 3/4". Not sure but the diameter below the bulge may be smaller than the line itself. You can remove that piece, if it snaps, you may have to drill it. Don't drill bigger than the line diameter. You can use a piece of steel brake line as a replacement. DO vacuum out the manifold as the debris will get sucked into the choke chamber when you start the engine and possibly plug something. The other line is the filtered air supply to it all. Cap
