Hey, guys! I have recently decided that I would like to purchase an older truck. An f150 preferably. I would like to get a truck that would allow me to learn how to a lot repairs on my own, but at the same time not be constantly in disrepair.

My question is what year and engine would you guys recommend? I'm looking for the most reliable year as well as easy to work on for a beginner.

When you say old, how old is old? pre-1975 had no catalytic converters, 1960 pretty much had no smog equipment at all....

 

I have an 83 F150 4X4 300 6cyl, need engine changed, have a spare engine.

83 is a good year, and that truck lives in AZ..........

put the motor in and do the minor work it needs after that! great starter truck, old enough for historic plates, and the guy who has it is a good dude......
