    I have recently acquired a 1965 F100 Custon Cab.

It doesn't have a battery in it and am planning on getting it running on Friday.

I have a spare battery that I saved from my 2001 Powerstroke when one of them went bad. It's a group 65 battery with 850 CCA.

    WIll that battery work?

The cables appear to have been set up for a GM style battery with the bolt on style cable. I'm planning on changing then out to a traditional clamp on style cable.

What are the measurements of the group 65 battery? I can give you the dimensions for the 4 different batteries used in 1965 F100/250 2WD's.

Some of these newer batteries have the terminals reversed (as do batteries for GM and etc), so you have to be careful when attaching the battery cables.

    I owned a '65 F100 2WD 8' Styleside for 44 years, so I'm very familiar with these trucks.

The CCA rating is plenty high, and according to the pictures for the original and the group 65, the terminals are indeed swapped as Bill noted.

Dimensionally it's not the same, especially the length being much longer, but sometimes the hold-down will work, worth a try to see.
