I just ordered an MSD 84771 billet distributor with vacuum advance. (which is 10 degrees @ 14" of vacuum) All these performance write-ups mention having all the advance in at about 2" below idle vacuum. MSD doesn't even make an adjustable vacuum advance. How does the company that has monopolized the distributor industry not even offer this feature? My 460 has a pretty radical roller cam and only pulls about 10" of vacuum at idle. These distributor gurus don't have a way to adjust the AMOUNT of vacuum, let alone the RATE at which it is actuated. A guy learns everything about how to dial in his engine and then finds out that nobody sells the dials to do it. I'm rather annoyed. Somebody give me some good news here if there is any. Is there really no way to adjust the vacuum advance on this "cutting edge" distributor in such a way that it achieves what every article says it should be doing?
