    Hello and new guy...

Just picked up a 1964 F-100 292 V8. Anyway truck has a newer Motorcraft 2bbl. When I received it had to prime carb to start. Found Accl pump linkage was not hooked up. Anyway runs but is not kicking down correctly but will if I hit the gas. Any Ideas???

as I recall, most carbs will "kick down" when you hit the gas if cold started, (choke closed). after a minute or so, you hit the gas, carb kicks down.
based on your description, all seems normal.
    was I missing something?

Thanks correct it does but when it’s running a few minutes I’ll push the gas and it
goes into high idle again but when i hit the gas again it kicks back down??

Thanks yes you are correct but what’s happening is that when I accelerate again it goes into high idle again then when I hit the gas it drops?? Instead of staying at a constant rpm

I would say yes, as the choke will need to be adjusted. Is the electric choke getting power?

I just bought the exact same thing a couple months back and had the same issue as soon as I had my carb cleaned and added some seafoam it ran fine except for a burnt exhaust valve

Hi, I'm having trouble finding a new oil pan for my 1966 ford f250 352 v8. Also finding rims has been a major pain. Any help would be great. 1961 - 1966 Ford F100, F250 and F350 Truck Forum Jul 11, 2023
