Just joined and have F250 7.3L 4x4 Lariat on order. My first Superduty after keeping my F150 3.5L ecoboost for 9 yrs 140,000 mi. This year we bought a Jayco 28ft travel trailer and I am looking forward to pulling it with my new F250.
The F150 3.5L has enough power to pull my 8,000 lb trailer but I hear the handling will be better with a Superduty. Interestingly, I improved my pulling experience with my F150 when I increased tire pressure to 51 psi (tire sidewall max) from the 35 psi door sticker.

    Welcome!

Yes, the torque of the larger engine will make a big difference on inclines. The 3.5L has the horsepower, but needs to wind up to get to peak, where the 7.3L was designed exclusively as a truck engine with low end torque.

Just bought 20 F-250 with 7.3, in xlt, fancy enough for me. Haven't towed anything heavy but know I will be happy. I'm impressed with empty fuel mileage, even though I don't get carried away with fuel mileage, it is what it is. Told wife when we went 3/4 ton if I got 14 highway I'd be satisfied. Made 200 mile trip, 180 highway 20 in town. Ran 75-80, averaged 14.8, I am very happy with that.

Welcome to the zone. I think the new 7.3 is going to be a great truck motor. Everyone doesn't need a diesel to get the job done.

If you read up on how that 7.3 is made I believe if the 3.5 consistently lasts 200,000 miles, which I want to see if its working a lot, the 7.3 should consistently last at LEAST 400,000. And its what....$9000 less han the diesel??
