I'm a new F250 owner and am getting ready to buy a new hitch for the receiver. I have a 2" sleeve that will hold the class 3 hitches that have a 2" ball. A 2 5/16" ball is required for the RV we are renting, which is the reason for a new hitch. I'm thinking of buying a 2 1/2" hitch with a 2 5/16" ball, so I don't have to use the sleeve. I'm considering a 4 to 6 inch drop so the trailer would be level during drive. But not sure how much sag the trailer will put on the truck, so I'm only guessing what size drop would be correct. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
RV owner stated that 21" from the ground to the ball, when connected, would allow the RV to travel level.

What is the Size and Weight of the RV you're renting? I just bought my 2020F250 STX 7.3L CCSB 4x4 about 4 weeks ago. I got this to pull a New to Us 2015 Jay Flight SLX 267BHSW, which is 29'11". The Tongue Weight is about 685 lbs and it's Gross Weight is about 7,000 lb. I was given a Fastway E2 Trunnion Style Weight Distribution Hitch from my wife's Uncle. They'd used it on a 30' Grand Design, which had a Gross Weight of about 8,000 lbs. Our Truck pulled these like they were nothing.

This Fastway WDH is Fairly Easy to Set Up and it is Great for Sway Control. There is Quite a Bit of Room for Adjustment, so you should be able to use it on Most RVs. You'll need to be on Level Ground to do this. You can look this up on the Internet. My Wife's Uncle has used this with this 2" Sleeve on his GMC 2500 for a couple of years and it worked find.

Thanks Scott for the input. The trailer is a 19 ft. Heartland Mallard. Gross weight is 4500lbs. Not a heavy load. After some research, I'm leaning toward a B+W with a 2" and 2 5/16 balls. It will have a adjustable drop up to 7". This way it will fit the variety of heights that we may encounter during the rental process. Once we own our own RV, the Fastway looks like a great candidate.
